Before I start my fan-girling rant, let’s take a quick look at an overview of the face behind the super fun products designed by the goddess herself. If you’re familiar with her merchandise, such as her iconic Betsey Johnson purses, you already know why collecting her swag can be addicting!
Who is Betsey Johnson?
Betsey Johnson is an American fashion designer, known for her vividly colored and “out there” designs. Many of her designs are considered “over the top” and embellished. The following excerpt from FFD, describes her perfectly:

Believe it or not, Betsey Johnson is 77 years old, born on August 10, 1942, in Wethersfield, CT. When you look at her marvelous merchandise, you would NEVER guess that she is her age – and that is what we all adore about her!
Be Confident
We are often told that we need to “dress our age“, but she breaks that mold by consistently creating fun, unique, and vivid masterpieces for us to wear at any age, with confidence.
I am totally in agreement with her stance concerning fashion! Personally, I love to wear sparkly clothing, sequin-studded shoes, and wildly colored jewelry. The problem is, too many people conform to what you should wear and not what you can wear, or want to wear – and I get a lot of criticism about it. But to put it quite boldly, Betsey gives me the lady balls to wear whatever I want without fear.

Can you believe that Betsey Johnson isn’t exactly “popular” in the fashion industry? An excerpt from the Washington Post, explains that since Betsey does not mindlessly conform to what is popular, or put overly expensive price tags on her merchandise, she doesn’t exactly “fit in” with the high fashion designers.
I think fans of Betsey Johnson, like myself, can agree that this is a good thing! If everyone dressed in and obsessed over earth tones, anti-glitter designs, and were scared to embrace their inner wild child, visually this world would be a major bore. No thanks! Keep at it, Betz!

My favorite thing about these is that they are SHINY and have bright colored gem stones over the laces, which ultimately make them super punk-pop princess-like for all us girls who are just extravagantly extra.
