What is chlorophyll? Well, first let’s clear this up: No, it is not the stuff that knocks people out – that would be Chloroform. First, let me tell you about how I heard about Chlorophyll. I was actually watching someones video blog and noticed that they took it, and advised viewers to look up the benefits, so I did and decided to start taking it. I have to say that one benefit that I can confirm is the elimination of odor that naturally occurs from your body internally. Before we get to the benefits of chlorophyll, let’s look at the basics:

What is Chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plants. Plants use chlorophyll and light to make food. People use chlorophyll as medicine. Common sources of chlorophyll used for medicine include alfalfa (Medicago sativa) and silkworm droppings.

What are the benefits and uses of Chlorophyll?

There are many more benefits associated with Chlorophyll, however these seem to be the most popular benefits. WOWZERS, right? It just might give CBD some competition. ๐Ÿ˜›

So how can you start implementing chlorophyll into your diet? The way I personally do it, is simply by using Chlorophyll water.

I use this one: Nature’s Way – Amazon

How to Use Chlorophyll Water

Simply put 2 Tablespoons into a cup of water and stir. Now, I admit, the taste is very unique so until you get used to it, you may need to hold your nose while you drink it. I actually mix the 2 tablespoons with 1 tablespoon of water and take it like a shot.

Foods that naturally contain Chlorophyll are green and include:

  • Spinach
  • Green beans
  • Fresh Parsley
  • Garden Cress
  • Wheatgrass
  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Kale
  • Pistachios
  • Kiwi
  • Green Grapes

Are there any risks to taking Chlorophyll supplements?

Side effects. There could be minor effects on the stomach/intestines, like nausea/vomiting from chlorophyll supplements. They seem to be fairly safe, though.

Risks. Chlorophyll may make some people more likely to get a rash from the sun. We don’t know if chlorophyll is safe for children or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Interactions. If you take any medicines regularly, talk to your doctor before you start using chlorophyll supplements. Be careful with medications that also list sun sensitivity as a side effect, like drugs for acne, infections, and pain.

So in conclusion, Chlorophyll is not only natural, but offers potential benefits that support the idea that it would be beneficial to consume chlorophyll regularly due to the low risks. When in doubt, just eat a lot of green vegetables, which is always the best way to get nutrients. If you do not eat vegetables, or find that you don’t eat them enough, perhaps a chlorophyll supplement is right for you.
