Funny anxiety memes, for some odd reason, help those us us who are always stressed out. In man instances, humor is the best medicine for us! Do you wake up everyday with the exact same thoughts every morning? Ones that range from “Great, another damn day”, “Oh Boy, CAN’T WAIT to pretend to be friendly with these goons at work today”, or maybe you just wake up feeling like this woman with the exact same look on your face:
Ah, yes. I know the feeling. So far, 2020 hasn’t started off too well and I want to complain about it. My pessimistic ass wants to be a “Negative Nancy” right now. I suggest you do the same and just rip off that mask and be your true self – a “Debby Downer”.
The best way to ease anxiety, embarrassment and other unfortunate feelings like loneliness and despair is to make fun of it. It seems a bit cruel and maybe even psychopathic, but it is true what they say: “Laughter is the Best Medicine“. Right?

With that being said, let’s make fun of the flaws and anxiety-stricken parts of our brains. Let’s face it, a lot of us have anxiety and/or anxiety disorders and since there are millions of us, we need to stick together and laugh at the things we have in common…
1. This T-Shirt Represents Everything We Feel When We Arrive to Work:
This shirt needs to be my official work uniform so everyone leaves me alone before I have my morning coffee. Ya feel me? Then, people would be like “Crystal!” and I can just scream “THAT’S NOT MY NAME“. That’ll teach em…🤣
2. When you regularly start comparing your Boss to a Soul-Sucking Dementor:
Do you ever sit at your work desk and think about how your boss is a soul-sucking dementor who is going to completely destroy all your inner-peace?
You should probably get something motivating to look at on your desk that isn’t annoyingly and optimistically cheesy, like this daily calendar below.
Although our circumstances at work can’t always change, our attitudes can, and this genius pack of years worth of “tough-love” helps us be more mindful about our thoughts.

Isn’t it kinda of weird to see anxiety act in the form of a person? Like, that is literally how it feels because your inner self is all cool and collected and then BAM – out pops the genie from the bottle of misery, granting you no wishes – just WORRY. SMH. Oh man, I love that video. You see, even though anxiety and negative thinking are torturous, we can always remind ourselves that we are not alone and make fun of it together!
4. Our Alter Ego: Debby Downer
I personally am always gettin’ down to that tune, Debbie downing all day long to my mom via text. She hates it. She responds with quirky mom words drenched in fluffy enthusiasm about how great life is. Usually that annoys me when people are psychopathically optimistic, but boy, did I feel better.
But Why did I feel better? It was not because of anything improving, or the fact that life is really so wonderful (That’s BS, Mom), but her attitude and perspective helped me by helping me produce positive thoughts. This also made me realize that being a “Debby Downer” (or speaking negatively) also can have a negative effect on others, just like how my mom’s optimistic texts had a positive effect on me – even when nothing in the circumstances changed.
Anyways, let’s celebrate our addiction to melancholy muttering that annoys our moms with some hilarious “Debby Downer” themed bits of stupid fun in the form of funny anxiety memes!

5. When you see Anxiety and decide to GTFO
Sadly this is one of the funny anxiety memes that I can relate to most. Every. damn. time. LOL.
6. WE ARE ALL SMALL TALK SURVIVORS Y’ALL
What are your most anxiety-heightening small-talk phrases/questions? Here are mine:
“Good Morning” – Because usually this is said to me BEFORE coffee. If I have had my coffee, then you can speak and exchange this robotic verbal exchange with me. LOL.
“Burr! it’s cold outside today, huh?” – Every time this happens, I yank out a handy dandy fake giggle and say in a fake higher pitched voice, “Hahaha, Yeah, it is – You stay warm!” then I walk away and roll my eyes. What did I really want to say? Oh, something along the lines of “NAW, I TELEPORTED HERE FROM KENYA – I had no idea it was cold outside!”.
“Any plans for the holiday/weekend?” – No. Gonna be alone on my living room floor eating spoiled peanut butter pie, now shoo, fly.
Despite us having gone through so many of these conversations, we are here, alive, and can live to tell the tales of overcoming tragic SMALL TALK., which is why we deserve these pins, damnit.
What is super funny is that, I do not display my anger in public, and am one of the sweetest people you will meet. I am super nice, so all these feelings of rage stay deep down inside, and I never let it show! DON’T JUDGE ME. 😝
7. WHOA, WAIT A SEC – LET ME OVERTHINK THIS FIRST.
Okay, you know how it is. You get invited to a 90’s bar crawl out on Broad Ripple and you must make a decision: to go or not to go. Here are the things that go through my mind in making decisions regarding anything that needs to be planned:
Me: Are they asking me to meet up at a reasonable hour/location? Pshhh, yeah 8PM isn’t too late and taking an Uber there would only be 20 bucks. LET’S DO IT AND HAVE SOME FUN TONIGHT, CRYSTAL. #YOLO
Overthinking Example by yours Truly
Anxiety: “Noooo, Crystal, remember that time you hit a parking garage pole and had to pay 1,000 to fix it? That sucked so bad, and if you leave the house it is possible it could happen again. AND what if your car gets 4 flat tires all at once, and all of them ricochet off the road and hit you all in the face, leaving you permanently deformed for life all because you wanted to go to a freaking bar crawl. And 8PM?! Come on Crystal, THINK – being out at night is dangerous because there is less visibility. Oh and don’t forget you need to be responsible and save money, ya damn fool”.
Me: So then, after anxiety scolds you over being too optimistic about the night ahead, it causes us to reply to the invite with “Sorry, just got the toots…can’t make it tonight”.
Anxiety: Then crickets chirp as you are left alone in your apartment with nothing to do and anxiety comes back and says, “WHOA WHOA, did you seriously just cancel your meetup over a little inconvenience in time and money? WOWZERZ, You’re as useless as a fun-size candy bar wrapper – no wonder you don’t have many friends. No one is ever going to invite you anywhere again, and you made a BIG mistake by not going. So they are going to hate you forever and their fun night will end with them praying to God for your existence to end with an alien abduction. Now, go ahead and overthink some more and you better cry or I will be back with more!“
