If you’re looking for some delicious high protein shake recipes, look no further! In order for the following recipes to qualify for this list, I look for a couple of things:
- Low Sugar
- Inexpensive & easy-to-find ingredients
- Flavor
- PROTEIN, PROTEIN PROTEIN!
If those are things you are looking for when seeking protein shake recipes, then you have found the sweet spot for the best ones on the net. The most important thing I like in a protein shake is a low sugar content, as Diabetes run in my family and I am trying to prevent getting it. πͺ
There are so many nutritional supplements that are advertised as being healthy but are still loaded with insane amounts of sugar, which makes dieting a pain in the ass when you’re on a diet! Not only does excess amounts of sugar consumption put you at risk for Type 2 Diabetes, it can cause weight loss, premature aging, depression and more.
I recently purchased this portable Nutribullet (Ain’t it cute?), so I am STOKED about trying all of the following treats on this list.
Alright ladies & gentlemen, start your blenders, so we can kick off this list with a BANG!
1. Coffee Lovers Protein Shake
So this protein shake recipe is not only easy, but looks incredibly yummy! With only 4 ingredients, you can make this quickly for when you are about to be on-the-go!
There is even a “How-To” video on the page when you go check out the recipe here: Love & Zest
2. Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake
I am pretty excited to try this one! I always seem to forget that canned pumpkin is not unhealthy of packed with sugar by itself, therefore it is easy to sneak into many recipes! Don’t be afraid to add a little coffee for an extra kick! π

3. Chocolate Cherry Protein Shake
One of my all time favorite flavor combinations would have to definitely be chocolate + cherries! From black forest cake to Cella’s delicious classics, it is hits the spot every time! Why do more places not offer chocolate cherry coffee? This is a problem.
What is not a problem however, is making this yummy shake: The Lemon Bowl
4. Peppermint Mocha Protein Smoothie
It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, peppermint mocha is another classic flavor that makes for a great protein shake. I mean, have you even lived if you have never had a Peppermint Mocha?
Go ahead and try it – you’ll thank me! Get recipe here: Inside Fitness

10. Cinnamon Roll Protein Shake
Cinnamon rolls are probably the best dessert ever to exist. If Cinnabon wasn’t so terribly bad for me, I would be keeping them in business all by myself. True story, lmao. The sad part is that I live across the street from one and never, ever go. Why? it is a slippery slope, my friends. π
Although those gooey, ooey, yummy-in-my-tummy Cinnabon rolls are off limits, this protein shake is definitely NOT!
Praise. the. lord. Let’s make it: The Big Man’s World
Sometimes the best way to make a yummy protein shake, is to simply mix some protein powder with your favorite add-in ingredients (milk, fruit, coconut, chocolate chips, etc…). So, it is only fitting that I add some of my favorite protein powder options as well!
1. Sparta – Apple Cinnamon Flavor Protein Powder
The first protein powder on this list is inspired by those oh-so-tasty APPLE JACKS that you loved to scarf down as a kid. YAAAAS.
Get yours here on Amazon: Sparta – WHEY – Apple Cinnamon Cereal
2. Nectar Protein Powder – Twisted Cherry
Picture it: An ice cold after workout protein smoothie, exuding that delicious cherry flavor. To make it even better, add mini chocolate chips (just a little!) or with some almond chocolate milk for a “chocolate covered cherry” feel. π
